SOLAR PROCUREMENT

Commercial Solar Contractor Proposal Normalization Guide

Normalize commercial PV proposals using the same system boundary, energy assumptions, degradation, availability, O&M, interconnection and financial inputs before comparing price or payback.

Normalize the energy model

  • Compare DC size, AC size, orientation, losses, degradation and annual production assumptions on a common basis.
  • Use site-specific resource and shading inputs and document any production guarantee separately from the modeled estimate.
  • Check whether curtailment, export limits, downtime or clipping are represented consistently.

Normalize commercial scope

  • Separate modules, inverters, racking, electrical balance of system, monitoring, engineering, permitting, interconnection and civil work.
  • Compare warranty scope, O&M, replacement assumptions and monitoring responsibilities over the analysis period.
  • Keep financing, incentives and tax assumptions separate from physical system performance so scenarios remain auditable.

Technical acceptance

  • Define commissioning, metering and documentation requirements before contract award.
  • Require as-built drawings, equipment data, protection settings, monitoring access and warranty records at handover.
  • Use qualified project professionals for final structural, electrical, grid and code compliance decisions.

Engineering-use note. This PROFENG resource is for screening, comparison and technical preparation. Replace assumptions with project data and use the responsible qualified professional, applicable standards, codes and authority requirements for final design, compliance or safety decisions.

Commercial independence

PROFENG may display a separately disclosed approved partner after the engineering content. Partner status never changes formulas, conversion factors, procurement criteria, technical references or calculation results. Pending and unapproved programs remain hidden.
