Choose compatible units and enter a value to see the conversion.

How the converter works

Each category converts through a defined base unit so incompatible measurements are never mixed. Linear engineering units use fixed factors, temperature uses affine scale-and-offset conversion, and fuel economy uses reciprocal conversion where required.

For pressure work, confirm whether the value is absolute or gauge pressure. For flow, density, viscosity and thermal properties, also confirm any reference temperature, pressure or standard-condition convention required by your calculation.

Formula source and acknowledgement

Relationship used: Convert between compatible units by applying the defined scale and offset for the source and destination units.

The conversion basis follows Ambler Thompson, Barry N. Taylor, Guide for the Use of the International System of Units (SI) (2008), National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Limits of use for this relationship

  • Source and destination units must represent the same physical quantity.
  • Pressure conversion changes units only; it does not convert gauge pressure to absolute pressure.
  • Temperature conversions must apply offsets as well as scale factors.

QUALITY & CORRECTIONS

QA, changelog and corrections

Last QA update: 30 September 2026.

Automated verification passed – 30 September 2026 – six numerical cases checked, with dimensional checks, independent cross-checks for calculators, and unit round-trip checks for converters where applicable.

Changelog

30 September 2026 – source/indexation status, metadata and correction pathway reviewed. Engineering tools display the automated verification label only when they are inside the passing Part 3 verification scope.
