PCB Fabrication Technical Procurement Guide
Prepare PCB fabrication requirements using explicit design rules, stack-up, materials, inspection and evidence rather than relying on generic capability tables.
Design package
- Fabrication drawing, controlled revision, layer stack-up, material requirements and applicable acceptance class.
- Critical dimensions, impedance requirements, copper, finish, via structures and tolerances.
- Use consistent units and avoid ambiguous mil/mm mixing in notes and supplier communication.
Supplier evidence
- DFM exceptions before release, stack-up confirmation and impedance coupon/test approach where relevant.
- Inspection/test records, material certificates and traceability appropriate to the product risk.
- Nonconformance, rework and change-approval process.
