LAB POWER / AUTOMATION
Programmable DC Power Supply Procurement Guide
Select programmable bench power supplies using voltage/current envelope, transient response, noise, protection, sequencing, remote control and test-automation requirements.
Electrical envelope
- Define steady-state and transient voltage/current demand, startup behavior and whether multiple isolated outputs are required.
- Set acceptable ripple/noise and transient response from the device under test rather than generic lab preference.
- Identify constant-voltage, constant-current and protection behavior needed for safe testing.
Automation
- Check LAN/USB/GPIB or other required interfaces, command set, drivers and logging capability.
- For production or regression test, evaluate sequencing, list mode, trigger I/O and measurement readback.
- Include fixtures, sense leads and rack hardware where remote sensing or repeatable test setups are needed.
Acceptance
- Test representative load steps and protection scenarios with the intended cabling.
- Record firmware and remote-control configuration as part of the controlled test environment.
- Maintain calibration and inspection records appropriate to the lab quality system.
